Poor little commentless soup! I'll put in a plug for parsnips. And turnips, too, which are really divine here--small and greenish, not pink like turnips in the U.S.
It has just gotten bitter cold in Chicago and this soup sounds like just the thing to warm me up! I love how simply its seasoned - I'll have to try it soon. Thanks!
My daughter and I go to a CSA(community sponsored Agriculture), and what do I have on hand? some turnips, parsnips (mmm!), fresh garlic, carrots, and just what I need for this soup. I don't have an immersion blender, so I'll have to see how it cooks up! Thanks for the recipe, sounds wonderful

made the soup today but added sweet potatoes, some 2% milk at the end of the cooking time, and nutmeg and anise. it was a hearty and tasty soup!
