No photo yet, but here's the idea:

Place the tomato on the cutting board with the stem part face up, in the middle. Now lean the tomato over about 20 degrees to one side, so the stem part is pointing not straight up but a bit angled. Now slice vertically through the tomato, just as you normally would.

Eesh, much easier to do than to explain.
