Yum! Glad I pushed you to be creative - it looks great. Actually, the recipe that Sam of Becks & Posh sent me also had sage and sounded WONDERFUL. I can see I need to get back to the market, despite my squash-averse spouse!
Sage seemed to be the right accompaniment and we had plenty of it around. I briefly contemplated basil from our prodigious plant, but decided that didn't work with the other flavors.
Shanon - good catch. You add it in just about whenever you want. You could add it with the brown sugar or at the end. The thing is you want to have it warmed through so it disssolves into the soup.
