I don't know if y'all are aware of the TTLB (The Truth Laid Bear) blogburst for Katrina relief that is going on right now to raise money. In one day, $255,000 has been raised. Just in case you're interested:

I strongly recommend considering America's Second Harvest as well: http://www.secondharvest.org/
100% of the donations go to Katrina's relief efforts. They deliver truckloads of food and water as well as meals. They're a well-known and very well organized soup kitchen network and have been endorsed by the Better Business Bureau.

I challenge other food bloggers to give aid to those who worked in the food industry and made New Orleans so flavorful:
New Orleans Hospitality Workers Disaster Relief Fund A fund has been established to benefit employees of the hospitality industry of the Greater New Orleans area who have experienced hardships because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Contributions may be sent to:

I'll leave the names of these other organizations up so those who are not comfortable donating to the American Red Cross can choose one. I know some of these organizations; I do not know others.
However, I urge everyone to make a donation to the Red Cross. They are the best organization to get the immediately needed aid to New Orleans.
If you wish to make a donation to one of these other organizations, please do so, but make one to the Red Cross first.
