I always feel special eating smoked salmon with pasta, like I was in a posh restaurant! :)

Meg, smoked salmon (or salmon of any kind for that matter) , crème fraîche and pasta are three of my favorite things. Sounds quite yummy actually as variations of this dish are served in restaurants and homes around the Pacific Northwest. Great choice!

I must admit, however, to being intrigued wit the tale of a "Christmas day with a Jewish family in a country home in the middle of nowhere". Ok, I won't ask. ;-)
