Chicago Dine Out - August 16-29th

Just read about this at Chicagoist . Remember the D.C. Restaurant Week Event we wrote about a couple of weeks ago?

Chicago is going to have its very own version thanks to San Pellegrino, called Chicago Dine Out from August 16th through August 29th. At restaurants all around the city, you can buy lunch for $20 and dinner for $35. One whole American dollar from each meal will go to Meals on Wheels, a very worthy charity (who deserve a lot more than a buck a meal if you ask me), and you get a free bottle of San Pellegrino water. You may have noticed from the logo for Chicago Dine Out that San Pelelgrino has pasted their name all over the event like an aqueous Donald Trump.

No, neither Charlie Trotter's, Trio, Tru, Green Zebra, Shine, Everest, nor the Harold's Chicken Shack in the West Loop are participating, but you can take advantage of the deal at some real fine eateries including Rick Bayless's Topolobampo, RoSal's in Little Italy, Oceanique in Evanston, or Nacional 27 among others. For a complete list, navigate to the annoying all-Flash site (why do people DO that?) and click the Participating Restaurants link.

Did we mention San Pellegrino's involved?

The Restaurant Week thing is a pretty common thing.

Houston, where I'm at, is having one as well from August 16-22 to benefit the Houston Food Bank. Lunch for $20 and Dinner for $30... all that info can be found here:

The Dallas-Ft. Worth area is doing the same thing from August 16-22 as well, same price. Information here:

I imagine this can be found all over the place, makes me wonder if someone could organize some huge national restaurant week... that'd be cool.

Good info for anyone who finds themselves in Houston or Dallas next week. Thanks, M.

How wonderful! Seattle's (biannual) "25 for $25" (Dine Around Seattle) is fantastic too. Last March we had some truly amazingly creative and scrumptious meals (with fabulous wine flights and wine pairings) at Earth & Ocean, Flying Fish and Restaurant Ze. And it was only $25 for dinner and $12.50 for lunch. I can't wait for the next one. Enjoy yours! :-)
