Brie Comes From the Amazon?

Brie does indeed come from the Amazon... website, that is. Amazon is beta testing a Gourmet foods store with products from Harry and David's, Jelly Belly, igourmet, Cheese Express, and others.

Where else are you going to find Tibetan Yak Cheese, Wild Boar Ribs, or Russian Beluga 000 Caviar Malossol? Amazon is just providing the interface for several specialty foods and gourmet food merchants as they have for sellers of electronics and gardening supplies, but if it helps get Spanish chorizo to people who wouldn't otherwise be exposed, I'm all for it.

Hey Barrett, it doesn't look like Amazon is likely to ship food outside the US. The general shipping policy for the marketplace does not mention food one way or the other, but when I checked the policy for a specific cheese only the US and US protectorates are available. (Does that mean they will ship to Iraq??) Just joking...

You could probably ship "Iraq of lamb" there.

Like you need gourmet by mail order in Paris! Most of this stuff is coming from there.

I'm sure if it's a hit in the U.S. the UK and FR Amazons will add food. It will be interesting to see the Gallic reaction.
